Leadership Transition at PROCURE’s Board of Directors

MONTREAL – After 18 years of leadership, Cédric Bisson passes the torch to Marie-Claire Richer and remains on the Board as Past Chair.

PROCURE, the only charitable organization in Quebec entirely dedicated to the fight against prostate cancer, announces a leadership transition at the helm of its Board of Directors. After 18 years of exceptional commitment, Cédric Bisson, M.D., LL.B., is passing the Chair to Marie-Claire Richer, RN, Ph.D., C.Dir. Remaining deeply committed to the cause he has championed with conviction, Mr. Bisson will continue to serve on the Board of Directors as Past Chair, ensuring continuity in the strategic direction he helped shape.

A Legacy Built on Rigour and Conviction

On behalf of the entire PROCURE community, the Board of Directors wishes first to pay sincere tribute to Cédric Bisson, who served as Chair with remarkable dedication.

A physician by training, lawyer, and renowned investor in the biopharmaceutical and healthcare sectors, Cédric Bisson brought exceptional strategic vision to PROCURE. Under his leadership, the organization reached several significant milestones: the creation and development of a world-class biobank, major investments in research, including a $3 million partnership with the Cancer Research Society, and the strengthening of a rigorous governance framework that has helped establish PROCURE as a leader in the fight against prostate cancer in Quebec. It was also under his leadership that PROCURE celebrated its 20th anniversary and successfully developed its 2026–2029 strategic plan, laying the foundation for a new cycle of sustainable growth.

A Presidency Focused on Patients and the Future

The appointment of Marie-Claire Richer aligns closely with PROCURE’s 2026–2029 strategic plan, which places at the heart of its ambitions a profound transformation of the support provided to people affected by prostate cancer throughout every stage of their journey.

Chief Executive Officer of the Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers du Québec (OIIQ) and Adjunct Professor at McGill University, Marie-Claire Richer represents a natural bridge between clinical practice, research and organizational leadership. She holds a Ph.D. and a master’s degree in nursing, as well as a master’s degree in management. She also practised as a nurse practitioner caring for cancer patients before going on to lead major organizational transformations within Quebec’s healthcare system.

A member of PROCURE’s Board of Directors since 2021 and Chair of the Nomination, Governance and Human Resources Committee, she has an in-depth understanding of PROCURE’s mission, values and ambitions. Her appointment as Chair represents a natural continuity and sends a strong message: PROCURE intends to place the experience of patients and their loved ones at the forefront of every decision.
